Laser Welding with Motoman Robots

Laser welding is a process used to join together metals or thermoplastics using a laser beam to form a weld. In case of Robotic Laser Welding, the robot is carrying a laser head mounted to the face plate of the robot arm. The laser head has focusing optics for the laser light and an integral height control mechanism.

YASKAWA are capable to deliver the components (like High Precision versions of our robots) as well as complete laser welding cells.

Customers appreciate Motoman GP Series robots to achieve high process speed, and specifically our GA50 High Precision Robot Model which hae been developed specifically for Laser Welding Applications

Remote Laser Welding with Motoman Robots

More advanced laser heads, used in remote laser welding, have integrated servo-controlled mirror systems to deflect the laser beam quickly and precisely. The laser head can either have a separate controller, or the control and HMI can be integrated in the robot controller. The Motoman MC2000 High Precision robot has been developed explicitly for remote welding.
